Shabadrang Bandhana Kaur Khalsa is a Yogini, Health Professional, and Healer
My yoga journey began in 2004 when I delved into hatha and vinyasa yoga, alongside exploring Reiki. In 2007, I completed my first teaching training at Frog Lotus Yoga in Massachusetts, an experience that ignited my passion for sharing these practices. Since then, I have pursued numerous certification programs, continually expanding my knowledge and skills. Now, I am a phew months away from earning a Master's degree in Ayurveda and Integrated Medicine from Maharishi International University. This program is unique in that ayurvedic knowledge is applied to modern day diseases and works along side the modern persons needs. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege to teach in various locations, including New Hampshire, Alaska, Washington, Mexico, and the Punjab region of India.
My commitment to the environment and the welfare of animals is a driving force in my life, and I cherish moments spent around a fire or swimming with friends and family during the summer months.
Currently, I am offering donation based, non-membership classes at Home Fire Station on the Key Peninsula, Dance Alley Studio in Gig Harbor. I teach at Asha Yoga studio and The Heart Center Studio as part of their regular membership.
Shabadrang distinguishes herself from other yoga instructors through a unique and compassionate approach.
Personal Connection: She meets individuals at their unique point on their life journey, whether they are complete beginners or experienced teachers seeking deeper insights.
Focused Workshops: Rather than conventional classes that emphasize flexibility or advanced poses, her workshops delve into the realms of Awareness, Ayurvedic lifestyle, Krays, breathwork, and meditation, providing an enriching experience that goes beyond physical practice.
Empowerment as Healer: Shabadrang emphasizes self-reliance in healing, guiding her students to tap into their innate ability to heal themselves using minimal tools, steering clear of reliance on extensive equipment, recreational medications, or crystals.
Practical Solutions: Recognizing that not everyone has the luxury of time, money, or space, she offers practical, instant tools that can immediately alleviate pressure and promote well-being, ensuring that help is accessible whenever it is needed.
Through these principles, Shabadrang creates a transformative yoga experience grounded in self-care and personal empowerment.
All events are all inclusive. Meaning open to all genders, sexual orientation, religious backgrounds, cultural backgrounds, physical ability, and economic status. Please inquire about vinue space as not all vinue spaces accommodate. There is no sign language interpreter at this time.
Understanding Self-Care
History
Modern “self‑care” often focuses on external maintenance — exercise, haircuts, spa visits. These can feel good, but they pull our attention toward the surface of life and away from the deeper roots of the Self. In Ayurveda and Yoga, the Self is not the body; it is the intelligence that sustains the body. When we reconnect with that inner source, health and well‑being arise naturally.
Yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda are ancient sciences based on a simple principle: the body heals itself when supported properly. When we align our daily rhythms with nature, nature restores us.
Philosophy
Yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda are universal sciences of life. They are not tied to any religion. Their purpose is to enliven the inner intelligence that sustains the body and to help every person awaken to their highest Self. When this inner intelligence is activated, health, longevity, and vitality arise naturally.
Postures
Asana, kriyas, postures, open the channels of the body. Leaving you feeling fresh, light, and able. They help enliven Awareness. Promote healthy maintenance of the joints, heart, digestion, nerves system, clear unwanted memories and maintain mental health.
Meditation
Meditation is key to taking care of your mind. You clean your cloths, brush your teeth, exercise your muscles, but how do you care for your mind? You do this with meditation. When mind is clear, Awareness blooms. Choosing healthy options becomes natural. Mental illness and disease disappears.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is the science of how to balance the doshas, with life style, foods, herbs, and oils. These doshas are everywhere and in everything. They are constantly being pushed and pulled by our daily actions. Ayurveda teaches us how to live within natural law.
NAMA describes Ayurveda as:
“Ayurveda is a comprehensive system of health and well‑being that is supported by science and backed by medical professionals. It focuses on restoring and maintaining balance in the body, mind, and consciousness through natural, holistic methods.” - NAMA
Pranayama
Breath work directly impacts your nervous system. It is the quickest way to change your reality and rewire your nervous system. It can increase memory, relieve stress and anxiety, fix stomach issues. The link between the seen and unseen.
